What is FTP?

File Transfer Protocol is simply a method of being able to share and exchange files across the internet without using email.

Why not use email to send a file?

Email usually restricts what size of file can be sent, most cases it is limited to 3Mb.  The other problem with sending large files via email is that you can easily fill up the receiver's inbox.
